Gillian Jones Designs consists of Gillian Jones, the designer, alongside Emma Davis, Amanda Cook, Karen Blayney and, last but not least, Gillian's husband Nick.
Gillian has had what you might call a "portfolio career" that has included a degree (well, two) in manufacturing engineering, working for IBM as a software engineer and a stint as a Royal Naval Officer.
Emma is the production department of Gillian Jones Designs! She makes our frames and frames all your pictures. She is another person with a varied background having been a lumberjack, forest ranger and swimming teacher.
Amanda recently left the Royal Navy after many years service as a writer, finishing as assistant to the Second Sea Lord. She has her own business as a virtual assistant and provides Gillian support on this basis - although she is very much more than virtual! She comes highly recommended as a virtual assistant and you can find out more here.
Karen has a similarly varied background spending time in veterinary nursing, physiotherapy, NVQ assessing and adult education. She also served as a medic for 13 years in the Royal Navy Reserve including Full Time Reserve Service (FTRS) on HMS Ark Royal.
Nick is a serving Royal Navy Officer, but he likes to get involved and can often be found cutting glass or putting up a gazebo for a show.
It just so happens that all the team are military spouses (except Nick, who used to be a military spouse).
As some of you may already know, Gillian has a number of health issues which mean she is not always able to work as hard as she would like! Her wonderful team is very able to fill the gaps this creates and are equally good at telling Gillian when to slow down.
Gillian Jones Designs is also the home of a range of hand and footprint pictures (which used to be called Gecko Art). You can also purchase a lovely range of flags from Owen's Flags; Gillian's son's fledging business!
If you are looking for a particular design and cannot find it, feel free to contact us and we will be able to help. Gillian is more than happy to create bespoke designs if you have something in mind. It does not have to be nautical, military or handprint related; she also does a fine line in word art and will turn her hand to most styles.
